We have used DeLucia Construction for two projects in the past 18 months. The first was to ‘fix’ our greenhouse which was an integral part of our home. It had about 400 square feet of double sealed glass panes many of which leaked air and water. Dean recommended replacing the entire glass area with studs, rafters, insulation, wallboard (inside) and clapboard siding (outside) and shingles. The area retained the hot water pipes and added new electric outlets. It now includes seven windows and two sky lights. Both the inside and outside were painted to match the adjacent areas. That area and the adjacent room is now much warmer during the winter months. We are fully satisfied. The second project was the replacement of our outside entry way, a porch-like structure with electric lights, railings and steps. This project got more complicated than originally expected due to much rot in the part where the porch was attached to the house. Dean was diligent in seeking out and replacing all the rotted materials. He also constructed a concrete base to support new steps.

One of the things we most admired about Dean’s workmanship was that everything was picked up and put away at the end of each day’s work.

In June, 2008 we commissioned DeLucia Construction to take down our old wooden deck and build us a new one. He suggested, building our new deck from composite materials (Trex and Veranda) which requires less maintenance and last longer than pressure treated wood at that time we did not know too much about it but we agreed. I am happy to report that our deck after three years still looks as good as when it was new. Even one of our neighbors modeled it after ours when he built his new deck. All our family and friends gave us complements on it. Yes. We will visit the site and provide you with a free estimate.


What about social distancing?

We’re closely monitoring the COVID-19 crisis and carefully following CDC recommendations.


Which materials will you use for my deck?

We’ll work together to determine whether wood or a composite is the best option for you and your budget. Common options include:

  • Wood: pressure-treated southern yellow pine (cheapest), white or red cedar, or hardwoods (most expensive), such as mahogany and ipe.

  • Wood Composite: Azek/Timbertech, Trex. More costly than pressure-treated wood, but less expensive than hardwoods. We proudly use Azek/Timbertech products, but can work with any of the numerous composite decking/railing systems available.

HOW MUCH CAN I EXPECT TO SPEND ON A NEW DECK?

Figure anywhere from $25-$60 per square foot (and up), depending on the choice of materials, as well as site-specific conditions.


WHEN SHOULD I RENOVATE AN EXISTING DECK, AND WHEN SHOULD I DEMOLISH THE EXISTING DECK AND START OVER?

If the sub-structure of the existing deck is in excellent shape, and is built to current building code with the proper materials, we will often recommend salvaging the deck framing. If the existing structure is sub-standard, and not built using pressure-treated wood, then we will recommend a full replacement.


What can I expect after I contact you?

After receiving your inquiry, we will schedule an appointment to visit you at your location. Any documentation and information that you can provide to us at that first meeting will help streamline the process. This includes, but is not limited to, sketches/plans, plot plans of your property, inspiration examples, sample materials, etc. We will then work up a no-obligation proposal that will detail what we intend to do, the materials we intend to use, and the price.
